Eerie over Fishers Green,

Up early & head to Fishers green a Slavonian Grebe was reported last evening, we have all seen one this year, but Jimmy needs a tick for his patch.
We meet up with Brian & we are soon looking over a very misty Friday lake, as we wait the mist starts to clear, it's very peaceful just watching the lake wake up.
The first thing we see is a Black Swan swim into view through the clearing mist, it looks very eerie, a really nice thing to see at the start of the day.
We stay until the mist goes, we see no sign of the Grebe. As we walk back to the car we get our first Sedge Warbler of the year, also a Reed Warbler shows itself for another year tick, a Willow Warbler is spotted. A Song Thrush sits on the top of a tree singing away, just a beautiful sound that sits well with the morning setting. Just as we are about to go we hear our first Cuckoo of the year, heading over the bridge Brian picks out the Cuckoo in a tree over the over side of the river.

Out of the mist, ( eerie )
With no plan to go anywhere in particular, Brian suggests we head off to Tring to look for  Arctic Tern to get another year tick.
At the Startopsend Reservoir we head to the hide, there are plenty of Terns about, but it takes a bit of time before one Arctic Tern is found.
A couple of Grey Wagtails show by the water edge. The second Cuckoo is seen & heard while we are here.
With the target bird seen it's off to give it another try for a Ring Ouzel, we have dipped twice before.
We try Ivinghoe Beacon & Pegsdon hills without any luck, one more try at Blowsdown, but no luck.
It's not happening for us with the Ring Ouzel, maybe we will have to make it our target bird for a while.
It just goes to show you it's a fairly easy bird to see, but if your not in the right place well that's it, you miss them. Not to worry going  up to Scotland soon, will get them then if still needed

Where is that Ouzel
